The Sonic Palette MIDI controller¶
The Sonic Palette is an attempt to build a portable, polyphonic MIDI controller with a large range. Other goals include excellent ergonomics and expressive capability.
The controller is built around a surface of force sensors arrayed 12 by 7. These sensors register note number, velocity, the user’s choice of aftertouch data. Other controls include two pots, a tactile switch, and two additional force sensors.
This controller is evolving, and input is requested. Current developments include migrating to a Pic18 series micro-controller, and adding additional controls. The note surface is also an area of focus as different arrangements and materials are being explored.
Another area if interest is in making an internal interface for an iPod Touch or iPhone.
Please see www.sonicpal.com for much more information including videos in the “Music Examples” section, and a link a neglected blog from the index page.
And again, please, if anyone is interested in getting involved in this project let me know. I’ll take all the help I can get!
